Tri kopy and Baníkov

Tri kopy and Baníkov
This very demanding circular high-mountain hike starts at Spálená and leads through Roháčska Valley and Smutné Saddle to the main ridge of the Western Tatras. The exposed ridge section crosses Tri kopy (2,136 m) and the rocky Hrubá kopa (2,166 m) before reaching Baníkov (2,178 m), the highest peak on the main Roháče ridge. This is one of the most difficult hikes in the Roháče Mountains, with several exposed rocky sections secured by chains. Experience in demanding high-mountain terrain is essential. From Baníkov, the route descends via Baníkovské Saddle and Spálená Valley, passes the Roháče Waterfall and returns to Roháčska Valley. The hike should only be attempted in stable and favourable weather.
